Cypress UI Automation - part 5

 

Conclusion:

The project provided me with a chance to explore our old java automation and provided me the chance to provide my input in creating an automation script from scratch.

Cypress Limitation

Although Cypress has a limitation of not being able to accept more than 1 super domain within a test, there's a workaround, depending on how complex the system under test is.

This project provided me with the opportunity to explore new technology and automation tools, new ideas and ways of thinking. A very challenging project but enjoyed it all the way.

If I had more time, I would try and implement contract testing as stated in stage 3 of the test strategy,  API testing (for pulling data from the test environment to avoid data errors after the stage test environment database refreshed. Updating our test data after a database refreshed can be time-consuming) in stage 2 of the Test Strategy document. I would work and collaborate with Developers to learn and develop a Unit test automation framework.

Overall, I have enjoyed working on this project and most of all I have improved on my programming and automation skills. I had the opportunity to build on my soft, as well as my hard skills.

Details of the Test Plan document is located in the appendix of this project. This is provided in the next chapter.

Cypress UI Automation - part 1

Java to Cypress-JavaScript Automation Migration Introduction: Across Cancer Research UK engineering department, we currently use a Java automation framework for our User interface and API testing. The framework has evolved in the last 3 to 4 years and currently, we have 19 products/project, (running approximately 1350 test scenarios) using the framework to run the respective sanity/regression packs.
